SDT was informally founded in 2000 by John C. Winchell. John grew up in Georgia and Florida for 15 years before moving to Cape Cod, MA in 1985. Upon finishing high school, he enrolled in college and went on to graduate cum laude from UMass-Amherst with a BA in Journalism. Prior to starting SDT, John’s work experience was gleaned through web production positions at regional firms like Webfodder, Inc. and Maxm Consulting.
His first website, Cape Cod Bike Guide, was a free informational resource dedicated to Cape Cod area bicycling. It was a labor of love for John who was an avid cyclist at the time. Shortly after, he was casually contracted by friends and employers to create several sites for their own small business ventures. As demand slowly grew, so did the scope of John’s projects.
In 2004, John decided to consummate this side-business with a dedicated website and name, Show Don’t Tell Consulting. Since then, he has worked on a long term (3-plus year) contract with MoreBeach.com, a New England beach vacation portal and numerous other clients in both principal and support development capacities. John’s most recent creative endeavor was Emotional Fissures, a self-published poetry collection dedicated to his deceased sister Elizabeth. It was published on October 1, 2009 and is available through Amazon.com by clicking here.
